One Long Week!

Whats up Everyone!

After a short break of blogging, I am back. A lot of things have gone on since I last wrote but hopefully I can fit everything in without being too long. First off, last Sunday I attended Sam's Creak COB. One of the workers here at the center, the one who invited me for Bible study, invited me to come along to Sam's Creak. Her parents picked me up and the service was a good service. Afterwards, they had a homecoming that served lots of food. As you can see, I came at the right time LOL. On Tuesday evening, I was invited to dinner from my friends here at the center. We ate at this Chinese restaurant which was pretty good, yet I don't think I should have finished my plate. Then on Friday, I was invited to this banquet to support the Westminster Rescue Mission program. This was pretty cool because the banquet in a fancy place. I felt out of place because I just got off work and started to rest a little bit and I thought we were just going out to a restaurant. That's how I was dressed LOL. Everyone else was dressed up though. The meal was good. They served the best looking chicken I had ever seen. Like the chicken that you see on TV. It was tasted pretty good too. I didn't have a whole lot of the chicken because I had a good lunch. Usually during the week when I have a good lunch, I don't like to have a big dinner. Its not good on my stomach.
Anyway, I heard from Glenn this week and he informed me that our pastorial candidate would not be coming to Waterford to do ministry for our congregation. Financial reasons once again hold us back. Very disappointed on the news but it just means that there is someone else out there for us and we continue to pray and talk to our Lord and Savior to help us find someone soon.
At work here in the IS, I had a pretty busy week. This was a long and tired week for me and that is a great thing because I like to be busy. I spent most of the week trying to make a drive image for these two new Dell Optiplex GX745's. I finally finished one on Friday, ready to be installed for one of the new employee's here. I started to work on another project that Joan, our HR person here at the center wanted me to do. I look forward to finishing up here in the next two weeks. The last couple of days, I seen another fine, beautiful woman here. I didn't talk to her but she was the best looking woman I have seen up close in a long time. I think she was just here a meeting that had taken place over the weekend, but I hope to see her again in the near future. Everybody has been great around here. Older folks been showing me lots of love and support, keeping me sane, that away I don't get too home sick. I have been out here in New Windsor for 2 months now, including orientation. Been thinking of everyone back home everyday. Been thinking of my BVS unit members. I hope each and every one of them are having a great time at their projects. Speaking of my unit, this week I also heard from Beth, one of the Staff volunteers at orientation. It was real cool getting to talk to her for a little while. Can't wait to here from her again, as well as everyone else. Anyway that is my week. Talk to ya'll again in the next couple of days. Peace!

Pic of the Day!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TOM
SORRY ITS A FEW DAYS LATE, BUT BETTER LATE THAN NEVER.

PEACE!

Its been a few days!

Whats up Everyone!

Its been a few days since I last wrote. On Wednesday, I did a few things at work. I had to write an article that is going into the "Simply News" newsletter that is distributed to the General Board regarding "why it is important to shut off your computer when not being used". It started off with being a page but I needed to shorten down to two paragraphs. Then after that I started to troubleshoot my thumbdrive on my PC. For some reason XP wouldn't recognized that is was plugged in. On Tuesday I couldn't of gotten it to work because I had a bad day. I slept on it, found out the problem, came back and fixed my issue and Corri's issue with her thumbdrive. Of our major projects while I am here is to clean out and reorganize the computer room. I started boxing some of the old junk that we don't need. That finished up the rest of the day. On Wednesday was a friend from my BVS unit Tom Birdzell's birthday.I want to give a shot out to him and hope that his birthday went real well and hope that he had a few drinks, but not to drunk then, LOL. On Thursday, was a real cool day. I found out we had a new copy of Photoshop CS3 and I got to install it on one of the employees computer. Just knowing that we got a copy of that was cool. However I think I may just use CS2 because so far I haven't been too impressed with it. Then after that I started to work on the Waterford Church of the Brethren's website. One of our members emailed me and wanted to upload some pics to our site. I was thrilled to here that there are some of us out there in Waterford still thinking of our website. Anytime someone from our congregation mentions to add anything to the site makes me feel good. So I was more than happy to do that. On Friday, wasn't much to do. I spent the first half of the day trying to install the correct driver on a laptop that needed a wireless card to work. What took me a half a day, should have taken me like 5 minutes. But I wasn't feeling good in the morning so I wasn't thinking clearly. While assisting one of the employees, the lady that invited me to Bible study this past Tuesday, invited me to go to Sam's Creek COB this Sunday for service. There are having a homecoming over there. Not sure what that means yet but I will know when I get over there. After I was invited to that, I got a surprise call from the pastor at Union Bridge COB. I attended the service there on Sunday and told him I am BVSer and serving at the Brethren Service Center. I am not sure why he got a hold of me but I am glad he did. He invited me to spend an evening at the Friday night movie at the church. I was like, yeah that sounds great. Before we went to the church, he and his wife invited me for some pizza at their home. After that we got to the church and watched the movie "Night of the Museum" with Ben Stiller. That was the first time I had seen it and it was good. I like to personally that Paster Jim and his wife for inviting me along and they will see me at future services at Union Bridge. Today was a kick back day. After I shaved my head, I went walking around the center to see if anyone was around. Ran into one of my good friends here and he took me into town to Target and Walmart. Now I again didn't buy anything at Target but anytime to get into town is good. Then I came back and had a good chat with Corri. Corri is real cool. Her and I are starting to become good friends. Which is good because now I can relate with somebody my age around here. I was excited about that. So now I am looking forward to next week, hoping to have even a better week.

The Slow Days!

Hey people:

Its been slow the past couple of days for me. Not much going on at work at the moment. However, I am planning on doing some big things pretty soon. As soon as I can get the big things going, you know I am going to write about it because that is what I love to do. Today, however, I was invited to join a bible study group with one of the residents and employees here at the Brethren Service Center. I thought that was really nice and I look forward to future bible study nights (I know that will make Glenn happy to hear about that, LOL). Anyway, just thought I would check in. More exciting days are to come for sure. Peace!

Out the room weekend!

Hey everyone:

This weekend I spent some time outside of my room. Anytime I can do something around here or go somewhere it is always good. Starting off on Saturday, I looked outside and noticed a few guys playing some b-ball. Anytime there are people playing ball, I have to go out and see if I can get in the game. So I played a couple of games with the guys. That was real cool because we played a full court game and I can't remember the last time I played a full-court basketball game. My good buddy Glenn would be interested in that. Anyway, after the game, I went out to Westminster and got some groceries. Anytime I can get into Westminster, it is always enjoyable. To me, its like being home. I live in a little town called Waterford and the next big town about 15 miles away is Modesto, CA. Of course Westminster is closer. Came back and watched a movie I rented from Blockbuster. On Sunday, for the first time in 5 Sunday's, I found a ride to one of the local churches around this area. I attended the Union Bridge Church of the Brethren. I seem like a good congregation, a little bit like my church back home, except a few more people attended. After that I went to lunch with some of the older folks that I hang out with here at the Brethren Service Center. Had a good lunch. Went back to my apartment to chill until 6pm where I got back together with the old folks and played some card games we do this every Sunday evening. All together, it was an enjoyable weekend that most of the time I spent out of my room.

Cool Friday!

Hey everyone:

Whats up? Hope everyone is doing great so far. I'm doing great so far. Today was a good day at work. Got some things done. Finished up cleaning up an old Dell Dimension. After that I continued to work on the Health Fair banner. I got it printed out, I just need to go over with a pencil. This morning I had the pleasure of installing two software programs on the HR's computer. The cool thing about this was one of the programs is Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro. I love Acrobat and this was the first time I actually got to use it. I am going to run a trial on my test PC in my office next week because there are some features that I really liked. After I got done doing that, I installed printers on Francie's new PC. That took me to lunch where Francie, Barbara, and I went to this place called Leo's Pizza. This was more of a restaurant then a pizza joint because I ordered a turkey-bacon sub. It was pretty good. From there we had to pick up a few things at Staples right next door. After that we came back and the rest of the day was kind of slow. Oh yeah, I got another DVD in and went home to burn it.
As of late, been kind of missing everyone back home and everyone in BVS unit 275. I want to give a shout out to everyone. I miss everyone back home but I am doing my thang over here in New Windsor. I am hoping to go to Ellgin, ll next month. I am looking forward to that because I will get to hang out with Tom, Todd, Tim, Dan, Beth, and everyone else I might know over there. While I am over there, it would be nice to catch up with Willem, since he is in Chi-Town (we'll be going to the Jordan statue, LOL). Anyway, just been thinking of ya'll and I look forward to hearing from you. Peace & Love Always.

Oh another great day on a Thrursday!

Hey People:

Today started off real well. Woke up around 6:30am feelin pretty good and not tired. I normally get up at 7:00 but today I felt awake for some reason. I get to work and I started out trying to figure out how to set up a FTP server on my PC in my office. I did it once before a while ago, but I had forgot a few things and now I was trying to do it again. In the morning, my DVD movies came in the mail from Blockbuster which I thought there coming tomorrow but I guess I got them a day early. I am excited about my new Blockbuster account because my mom got me on this two month trial for my birthday but I wasn't about to use it until now. Now I am trying to get the DVD's that I couldn't get when I was in Waterford. I got my second check today. I was kind of happy about that. Francie wanted me to write a little article for the "Simply News" newsletter that the General Board publishes so I worked on that for a couple of hours today. The article is on why it is good to turn off the computer when at the end of the day when a person is done. I got most of it done, but I have to shorten it up a bit. Then after that I continued to work on the Health Fair banner for next week. I think I am just about done with the layout. Tomorrow I am going to print it out. Towards the end of the day, I got to clean out another old Dell Dimension 4100 PC. That was my day at work. A well productive day I would say. After I left work, two of my friends around here took me into Westminster to check out where some of the places I might be interested in doing while I am over here. First, they showed me where the Target store is, because I know I am going to go over there for a few things. Then they showed me where the library was. I always enjoy checking out books. This was the most interesting library I've been in. More interesting then the Modesto area for sure. After the library, I went back to the apartment and just chilled. A good day with no problems at what so ever. Peace!

Pic of the Day!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BETH! I HOPE EVERYTHING WAS ALL GOOD TODAY FOR YOU!

JAY

One Cool Day!

Hey people:

I would call this day a very interesting day. My day started off by having the Dell Tech come down and replace every major part of my Optiplex GX520. After I done replaced every big part of that PC at least twice, Dell thought they would send their tech and make sure it for themselves that it isn't the user ---- messing it up. Actually I really don't mind it because as long as that PC or laptop is under warranty, I am just going to let them do what ever they think is right. Had that been me, I would have done things different. I've been in this industry of computer repair to know what I am doing, and one of things that I know is if something is under warranty, the company can replace parts or the whole computer. If it is not under warranty, then I feel pretty good about myself to fix it myself. Anyway, after the tech came, I spent at least two hours loading software on my new replaced PC. During that time, I get an email from a couple of friends of mine. One friend is from my BVS unit. She was one of the leaders and her birthday is today, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BETH if your reading this. My other friend added me to his facebook account. This is a friend from high school who I haven't seen or talk to since high school. I was thrilled about that. That was very cool. Another thing I did today was continue making a layout for this banner I am printing out for the "Health Fair" we are having at the Brethren Service Center next week. Been having fun doing that. Francie wanted me to finish installing software on her new PC she ordered. It is the same type of PC that I worked on for our Finance lady, so as you can imagine, I was happy to work on that. Dam I wish I had that PC in my office. Just joking, that replace parts every week PC is fine with me. LOL. I think the one thing that set the cool day off was I got a chance to talk to this woman I met yesterday again. She seems really cool and I know we're going to be friends. Anyway, this was my interesting day. I'm signing out till tomorrow. Peace!!

Slow Tuesday!

Whats up everyone?

Today was a very slow day. At first, I thought it was going to be a very exciting day for me because there were some big things going on. My Dell PC project will be put on hold until tomorrow. Then I was supposed to be working on this Citrix box with guy that know a bit about Citrix. I will learn that some time this week. But on an upside of things, I finally met a beautiful girl here. She is a new employee and so I look forward into knowing her a little bit more. That's the wrap.

Labor Day Monday! - "The Kid" is here

Hey People:

Today was a real kick back kind of day. A beautiful day outside once again, still in the 80's. I did some laundry this afternoon. Before that I called and talked to my Grandma Minnie a little bit. Just seeing how she is doing. Later on this evening, I went over Ed's house for his picnic that he was throwing. Most of the older adults came. There was about 15 of us and it was real cool. It was clear I was the only single and youngest person there, that is why my new nickname is "The Kid" or "TK" for short because everybody around me are senior citizens and I feel real young once again. Anyway, it was a real cool picnic. Lots of good conversations and we played this game where we throw these color 1 pound ball around, trying to get close to this softball. Who ever gets closest to the softball gets a point. We played in teams, where there were two of each of the four color balls. It was a good game. After the game, we talked for a few minutes more and then we all left back to our apartments. This was a great evening in my book.

Labor Day weekend 2007

What's up Ya'll:

Not really a whole lot going on this weekend. I am just relaxing and enjoying the weekend. I started to play ball in the gym for the first time since orientation. The weather is real nice out her now, in the 80's. Can't wait for Fall. This weekend I had the opportunity to come up with ideas for my project. I want to make Information Services here at the Brethren Service Center fun. I hope my ideas can come through. I played cards with two of my senior friends over here on Sunday night in Old Main building. We played for three hours. I am really starting to enjoy my time with the people here. I was invited to a picnic tomorrow which I am going to attend, by one of my co-workers and the building manager, Ed. I think right now I happy to get this holiday off so I can come up with some crazy ideas. When I get back to work on Tuesday, hopefully I can implement them. See Ya

Kick Back Friday!

Well People:

This was the easiest, quite possibly to quietest Friday I had in three weeks. There's probably nothing wrong with that because I know I am going get busy in weeks to come. I love to stay busy. Anyway, I finished up labeling the network cables in the warehouse. Something I wanted to do all week long but wasn't able to do it. Then after that I decided to type up my written documentation. After I done that, I talk to Francie for a couple of hours until the day finished. Didn't even seem like it took that long, but when I'm having a good conversation time can go by quick. Went home, chilled like I normally do and then around 10:15pm, I hit the gym and played basketball for the first time since the beginning of orientation. That was real cool shooting around at night. I look forward to more evenings like that. After I got back, I heard from Angela again through email. Always good to hear from her. And that was the day.
