Last Blog of January '09

Well its the day before Super Sunday and I am getting hyped up over the big game. The volunteers here at the center are gathering and watching the Super Bowl on a big screen projector in the auditorium. We're going to have food and drinks and good fellowship. I am looking forward to seeing a good game. My prediction between the Steelers and the Cardinals is that the Steelers are going to win the game. I picked them to win it all at the beginning of the playoffs. However, I would like to see a good game, a game that will come down to the final minute of the game. Some people I talk to (who will remain nameless) think that Pittsburgh is going to run all over Arizona. I don't see it that way. I see it as a great game, a close game. In the end though, Pittsburgh will prevail to win their sixth championship. That is what I think Super Sunday is going to be like....

This is my fourth blog of the month. My goal for 2009 is to have at least 4 blogs a month. However it is kind of hard when I don't have anything to report. Especially the last couple of weeks. I will however say that my website, irizarry275.com will be up in no time. Its coming together nicely and I hope those that see it, like it as well. Everything is good here at the center. No problems lately. We did have snow this past week and the snow is still on the ground and will take a while to melt away. Information Services is doing good. Francie and I have been on top of things lately. I recently purchased a new DVD writer because the one I had before is having issues copying dvds. I am looking forward to getting a new hard drive pretty soon, but I don't know when. I just been watching movies lately. I am going to have to get ready and purchase one of those digital converter boxes for my tv in my appartment. I haven't purchased it yet. I plan on it in the next couple of weeks. Still thinking about my next project. I thought I had a couple in mind but I think I have a couple more options as well. Not much else going on. We'll check in later. Peace!

3 day weekend!

Last week ended up being a pretty cool week. A lot better than the week before. Before, I started to realize that my attitude in general wasn't all that great. But now I accept where I am at with it because I am looking toward the future. The week before there would be something that would piss me off and start questioning my role here. But now I see that I have to move on from something before I get burned out and start not like what I was doing for the past 14 years. Now I am just doing what I do, trying to make the most of it.

Been working on my upcoming website. It's finally coming along. I am getting excited to know that I will have something up and going that I have been working on for a long, long time. I will be proud of my finished accomplishment (well at least when I finally upload it).

Yesterday, I watched two good football games to see who is going to the Super Bowl. The first game I watched was between the Arizona Cardinals and Philadelphia Eagles. That game came down to the wire in which Arizona finished the game and are going to the Super Bowl for the first time ever. The next game I watched was between the Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers. That game was a close game as well, and the Steelers finished it with Troy Polamalu picking off Joe Flacco, Ravens quarterback, and taking all the way to the end zone for the TD. I wanted Pittsburgh and Arizona both to win and it looks like I am 2 for 2.

Update....

Not much as been going on this past week or so. However, I did get a jury summons in the mail. I was trippin about that because I thought I had to go back to home to serve it, but I was able to talk to someone down there and they said the only thing I had to do was send them a letter explaining my situation so I can get it postponed until I get back to California. That was a relief.

We got returning volunteers to host the Old Main building here at the center, Dick and Erma Foust. They were here last year and I am glad to see them come back. We got new volunteers to host the Zigler building, Larry and Alice Petry. The Petry's have been here plenty of times. They assited the BVS orientation coordination for the older adult unit that arrives in April. I am glad to be hanging out with them for the next couple of months.

Its already in the middle of January and I am continuing to plot for my next move. Right now its in the thought process. I am sure in the next few months things will get more interesting as far as my next assignment. I have lots of other thoughts going on but I am afraid to publish it for the time being. Work has been going ok so far. We got everyone caught up on all Outlook installation and GroupWise, the previous email client, will be retired soon. Just been looking at laptops and pc's, making sure there running properly. Everything has been pretty cool so far.

New Year's Resolution

Happy 2009. A new year, a new start for different things. This is crazy because I kept talking about waiting until January to start coming up with ideas for my future. And now January is here already. It blew by really fast. Time to get going on planning for whats next. Scary concept but at the same time, I have been looking forward to this for some time now. At least for the last three months or so. To start off, I will have a couple of new projects in mind right off from the start. Then I have to wait until the new BVS 2009 project book comes out to see whats available. From there, I will start to talk to the projects if possible. Then I should be in contact with Dan about what my options are and where I would like to go for my third year. I would like to have something up and going by April, but I would like to finish my term here. However that is not the case, and the new project would like me to be there sooner, then I will do that. This is a year of a change. Not as big as change in '07, but a change nonetheless. New project means I will be doing something different from Information Technology. Now that doesn't mean that I won't work with computers but I would like to try something different and far as my main job is concern. That is going to be very challenging because that I have been working on computers for 13 years. Its like the only thing I know. I need to know if I can find something else I am good at. I am not divorcing IT, but before I get burned out from it, I think a change in scenery is in order before I venture off into IT for good. That is the biggest change of the year.

Hopefully this year I will get a chance to go home for a little bit. I think there are options on that one as well. I am not sure when I am going back or how long I plan on staying when I am there. But that is something to look forward to in some ways. There are some people miss and I need to see them for sure. Other than that, home is still the same.

My main goal is to have two websites up and going this year. Right now I am working on my irizarry275.com website. It is turning out to be a great looking website, hoping to be the best work I have done. In case people are wondering what the 275 is, it represents my BVS unit number. I am always keeping my unit in mind. The next one I will be working on is my jay-izzle.com. I am not sure what I plan on doing with this one but it will be cool just like the first one.
